Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in gesneriads (African Violets and their cousins) and wants to improve their growing skills. Our club provides a forum for African Violet enthusiasts to share their interest in the propagation and culture of the African Violet and other gesneriads.
Our members include men and women of all ages. Some recently got their first African Violet. Others have years of experience to share. We meet once a month in the Baltimore County / Harford County areas. We share ideas, swap leaves, and learn more about African Violets and their cousins gesneriads each month. We hold plant sales and shows periodically throughout the year.
Members come from the surrounding towns of Baltimore, Brooklyn, Catonsville, Cockeysville, Columbia, Eldersburg, Ellicott City, Finksburg, Forest Hill, Frederick, Glen Burnie, Glencoe, Greenspring, Hereford, Hunt Valley, Joppa, Linthicum, Lutherville, Monkton, New Market, New Windsor, Owings Mills, Parkton, Parkville, Reisterstown, Rockville, Silver Spring, Sparks, Sykesville, Timonium, Towson, Westminster, White Marsh, and Southern Pennsylvania.

MEMBERSHIP
SECTION 1: All persons interested in the growing and/or showing of African violets shall be eligible for membership in the Club. Prospective members are eligible to apply in the Baltimore African Violet Club upon attendance at their second meeting. Membership becomes effective upon the individual paying his/her dues. The Directors may revoke the membership of any member for just cause, providing that this action is maintained by a two-thirds vote of the members attending the next regular meeting.
SECTION 2: There shall be four (4) classes of membership in the Club, as follows:
SECTION 3: Membership dues shall be determined annually at a regular meeting of the Club. Dues are to be paid regardless of attendance at meetings. Any member who fails to pay his/her dues for three months, after due notification, may be dropped from the roll. New members are required to pay at the time they qualify for membership.
SECTION 4: MEMBERSHIP VIOLATIONS. Question raised about membership violations are to be directed to and decided by the Board of Directors. Less than a unanimous decision is to be decided by a 2/3 majority vote of the total active membership.
SECTION 5: Any member desiring to resign from the Club shall submit their resignation in writing to the President who shall present it to the Board of Directors for inclusion in the Board’s minutes.
SECTION 6: Dues are due no later than the November meeting. Dues of new members shall be apportioned in conjunction with the Baltimore African Violet Club Rules.
